DSEK takes serious note of corporal punishment

Teachers directed to be friendly with the students.

Srinagar: Taking strong notice of the some incidents of beating of students by teachers, Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo has directed all teaching fraternity to maintain a friendly relationship with the students and provide them a cordial environment.

Pertinently DSEK has received some reports about the beating of students with the stick at some institutions which has a drastic negative psychological and physical impact on the students.

The senior officers of the department have taken serious note of the incidents and in this regard Director School Education Kashmir has issued a circular according to which teachers have been given strict instructions not to resort to corporal punishment to the students under any circumstances.

“It is once again enjoined upon all the concerned that stern action will be taken against any teacher indulged in any such incident,” the circular said.

Director School Education has requested all the concerned to bring into the notice of the Directorate if any such incident occurs somewhere so that students can be saved from the negative psychological effects.
