Srinagar: The mother of a downtown boy, who had gone missing and whose picture with an AK-47 rifle had surfaced on the social media, made a passionate appeal to him to come back.

Mymoona, mother of Fahad Mushtaq Waza, who has reportedly joined Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) ranks, made a passionate appeal to his son to return home.

Joined by other women (both relatives and neighbours), Mymoona told reporters at Press Enclave that last Friday, her son told her that he was going with Tableegi Jamaa’t.

As he had already gone with the Jamaa’t several times earlier, family didn’t smell anything fishy.

“He lied to me. Lied to me for the first time,” she said, adding, they were ere shocked to see his picture brandishing a rifle on social media.

Fahad, a resident of Akalmir Khanyar area of Srinagar’s old city, had last year failed to qualify his 10th class examination.

Fahad Mushtaq Waza, a resident of Khanyar here, went missing on Friday and an appeal was made by his family after a picture purportedly showing him holding a gun went viral on social media yesterday.

His ailing parents were shocked after they learnt that he had reportedly joined the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit, Waza’s family members told reporters.

No statement or comment has been issued by the police.

The youth’s family members have filed a missing person’s report.

His father is in hospital, a relative said.

The family also appealed to the LeT to let Waza go.

“The militants are also our sons. We appeal them to let him go as his parents are ill,” the family member said.
