Several injured after clashes broke out in Brath Sopore
Sopore: At least five youth were injured after violent clashes broke out when forces launched cordon-and-search-operation at Brath village and arrested two youth in the outskirts of Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.
Witness said forces including 22 RR of army, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a joint operation in Brath village following inputs about the presence of militants.
During the search operation two persons were arrested triggering protest and violent clashes,they added.
The arrested youth were identified as Khurshid Ahmed Mir Son of Abdul Rashid Mir and Mehraj Ahmed both residents of Brath Kalan Sopore.
Meanwhile sources said that panic gripped after few gunshots were also heard during CASO.
After conducting searches for several hours,no militant was found in the area : officials in Army said
However, soon after two youth were arrested protested erupted in the village after people took to streets and clashed with forces pelting stones on security forces, forces retaliated by lobbing some smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters in which five youth were injured and they were referred to near by hospital for treatment.
