Shopian: Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), Jammu and Kashmir’s largest cadre-based student organization is striving to raise awareness among masses about the complications of contemporary environmental issues.

President of (IJT) Jammu and Kashmir Umar Sultan said that we are celebrating the month of March as environmental awareness month in the Kashmir valley. “During this one month long campaign, IJT is planning to plant ten thousand trees in several areas of Kashmir valley,” Umar told Kashmir Images

“Our campaign will follow a three-pronged approach for environmental protection that includes plantation drive, cleanliness drive and awareness drive,” he added.

Umar said that Islam teaches us to protect environment because the environmental deterioration has hazardous effects on mankind.

One of the members of organization (IJT) from Shopian district Ishfaq Ahmad told Kashmir Images that IJT has started this campaign to create awareness among people about the importance of voluntarily work to protect the environment.

“We have installed dust bins in many areas and have also started plantation drives in many educational institutes. It is a small contribution that our organization has initiated towards environmental conservation,” said Ishfaq.
