Maqbool Sahil’s demise condoled widely

CM, NC, Hurriyat (G), JKLF, Cong, TeH, media bodies express grief

Srinagar: Condolences continued to pour in from cross sections of the society on the sad demise of renowned journalist, writer and poet, Maqbool Sahil to passed away on Tuesday.

A meeting of the Kashmir Press Photographers Association (KPPA) was held here Wednesday in which grief was expressed over the death of senior journalist Maqbool Sahil.

The KPPA paid glowing tributes to Sahil for the journalistic and literary work he had rendered over the past more than three decades.

Expressing sympathy with Sahil’s family, the KPPA prayed to the Almighty to grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to the deceased and forbearance to the family.

Anantnag Working Journalists Association (AWJA) has also condoled the sad demise of Maqbool Sahil.

In a Condolence statement AWJA expressed a deep shock on the untimely death of Sahil.

“His death has created a big void in the field of journalism and literature which cannot be filled by any means and his death is a big loss for the journalist fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir,” the statement said.

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has condoled the demise of Maqbool Sahil and in her message said the contribution made by late Maqbool Sahil in strengthening vernacular media in the State and preserving, promoting and protecting Pahari language and literature would long be remembered.

Mehbooba Mufti has conveyed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family while praying for peace to the departed soul.

Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep grief over the demise of Maqbool Sahil and extended his condolences to grieved family and prayed for departed soul.

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Maqbool Sahil.

Terming the news of his demise as heartbreaking, JKLF chairman, in a statement issued here, said that Maqbool Sahil was a humble and literary soul who faced hardships with humility and served the nation of Kashmir on social, literary and human fronts. He said that Maqbool Sahil was a Kashmiri who contributed in the field of journalism and brought the plight of his people before the rest of the world.

JKLF chairman while praying for his heavenly abode said that his absence will be felt in literary and social circles. JKLF chairman also expressed condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for their Sabr-I-Jamil.

Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat(TeH) Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, expressed deep grief” over the demise of Maqbool Sahil.

In a statement issued here, Sehrai while paying glorious tributes to late Sahil for his contribution to the   Kashmir freedom movement and literary work, said that he was a well wisher of the movement and for which he has served jail term for several years.

Sehrai expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family and also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Maqbool Sahil who passed away in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Offering their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah highlighted Sahil’s vast and exemplary contributions in promoting Urdu and Pahari and said the vacuum left by his demise would be hard to fill.

NC Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu, Provincial Spokespersons Madan Mantoo and Imran Nabi Dar, Additional Spokespersons Sarah Hayat Shah and Surinder Singh Bunty have also expressed shock and grief over Sahil’s demise and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President G. A. Mir today deeply mourned the sudden demise of Sahil and offered deepest condolences to his family and  friends.

  1. A. Mir described Sahil’s demise as a great loss to Media Fraternity and said his untimely demise has saddened him and he has no words to express grief.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and sympathized with bereaved family.
