Life limps to normal in Shopian after 5-day shutdown

Shopian, Mar 10: Life returned to normal in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Saturday after five-day shutdown against killings of two militants and four civilians in army firing.

Shops and business establishments opened across the district after five days. Both private and public transport plied normally even as usual hustle also returned to market places.

There was no major deployment of police and paramilitary troopers in the township.

On Sunday (March 04) evening, four civilians and two militants were killed in Army firing at Pahnoo village.

While the locals said the civilians were killed in cold-blood, Army said they retaliated after their vehicle was fired at by the militants.
