Drug-peddler arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 06: A drug peddler was arrested in Srinagar with contraband substance, police said today.

Based on a specific information, a police party of police station Batamaloo laid a ‘naka’ (checkpoint)  near Mominabad Batamaloo and stopped an Eco van (JK02BQ 3165) and recovered 65 bottles of codeine phosphate from it, police spokesman said.

He said the driver of the vehicle was identified as Shoib Mohammad Pandith, son of Late Nazir Ahmad Pandith, resident of N. R. Colony-A Bemina, who “is a chronic drug peddler”, was arrested.

In  this regard, a case (FIR No. 39/2018) under section 8/21 NDPS Act stands was registered, he said.
