Wasim can’t wait to see full PSL season played at home
DUBAI: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is excited about the prospects of a full edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) taking place on home soil next year.
Empty stands at the Dubai International Stadium where the third edition of PSL is under progress have been a thorny issue but Wasim foresees packed crowds for the T20 league once it is fully staged in Pakistan.
“It will be a dream come true for the owners, PCB and myself. And of course it will be a dream come true for every cricket loving Pakistani,” Wasim, who is currently at the helm of newcomers Multan Sultans, told Geo TV in an interview.
Only three of the PSL matches including the March 25 finale in Karachi will be held on Pakistani soil. All the other PSL games were pencilled in for Dubai and Sharjah, which will host the second leg of PSL 3 starting from Wednesday (tomorrow).
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is mulling the idea of having a full PSL in Pakistan in 2019 with chairman Najam Sethi expressing confidence that it was an achievable target.While Dubai has been disappointing as far as attendance is concerned Wasim was confident that Sharjah will be a different story.“There is a logistical problem at the Dubai Stadium. If you don’t have a car you can’t come. There is no public transport. This problem won’t be there in Sharjah,” he said.
