JAMMU, FEBRUARY 05- Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari told the House that the PWD (R&B) Department has started upgradation works including construction of 4 additional classrooms for Government Girls Higher Secondary School Nowshera, Rajouri.

“Against an estimated cost of Rs 58.45 lakh for creating additional infrastructure of 4 classrooms,   Rs 26 lakh including Rs 10  lakh announced by Chief Minister during Public Durbar at Rajouri on 23 December 2017,  have been released under Capex Budget 2017-18,” the Minister said while responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA Ravinder Raina in the House in this regard.

“At present plinth work of the building has been completed. In order to supplement the funding of the construction of the said school building, District Development Commissioner Rajouri has been requested to approach the MLA Nowshera for release of Rs 20 lakh out of CDF,” the Minister informed.

He said similarly, estimates of Rs 50 lakh have been prepared by the PW (R&B) Department for creating additional infrastructure of 5 classrooms in Government Girls HSS Sunderbani against which Rs 18 lakh including Rs 5 lakh announced by the Chief Minister on the same day, stand released under Capex Budget 2017-18. He said the foundation work of the said school building is in progress, while the balance funds would be provided in the next financial year.

Responding to another point raised by the Legislator, the Minister said presently land measuring 84 kanals around HSS Lamberi is mostly fenced. He, however, said some area was left unfenced due to dispute as the matter is sub-judice in the High Court.

“The department and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, who is also a party in above said case, is vigorously pursuing the case in the High Court and to protect the land, the Engineering Wing of School Education Department has prepared estimates amounting to Rs 53.95 lakh for its boundary wall against which Rs 4 lakhs were released during the current financial year under Capex Budget,” he said.
