Srinagar, January 10: Terming the resignation tendered by 2009 IAS topper, Dr Shah Faesal as outcome of “cruelty” meted out to the people of Kashmir, ex MLA Langate, Er Rasheed today invited him to join his Awami Ittihaad Party and also volunteered to work under him if ‘he speaks louder about sentiments of masses and will not collaborate with those who don’t believe in giving right to self-determination to Kashmiris.’

A day after Shah Faesal formally announced resignation from Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Rasheed said that he will shun his ego and would love to work under him if he would join the AIP.

“I don’t doubt his sincerity as the step he took was genuine as far as his statement that he is saddened to see Kashmiri people being killed every now and then but if he talks about wishes and aspirations of the people he should better understand what people of Kashmir actually want,” said Rasheed while addressing media at Kashmir Press Club here.

The AIP Chief said that he will also welcome Shah Faesal joining some other party provided he takes a firm stand vis-à-vis “plebiscite” which has been the ultimate demand of the people of Kashmir.

He said that entire India would be regretting the decision of IAS topper who was showered with all praises when he topped the competitive exams in 2009.

“Being a friend he was closely associated with me and he also sought suggestions as to what needs to be done. I told him that it was for him to decide. Rest I would love to work under him, will shun my ego if he joins my party,” he added.

“He is disheartened, alienated over what happens in Kashmir, he realized that bureaucracy has marred the state. I second his decision but at the same time he has to prove his sincerity to public,” said Rasheed.

Er. Rasheed said that his party will like to offer Shah Faesal to join AIP or even if he floats his own party or contests parliamentary elections as an independent candidate ‘we will love to join hands with him, subject to the condition he will not collaborate with those who don’t believe in giving right to self-determination to Kashmiris.’

Er. Rasheed reiterated that his party is ready to merge with or follow any party and work with any individual who sincerely believes in fighting for an everlasting resolution to Kashmir dispute in its historic perspective.
