PDP expels Basharat Bukhari, Peer Hussain
Removes Mehboob Iqbal as general secretary
Srinagar, Dec 18: Peoples Democratic Party (PD) has expelled two of its top leaders — Peer Muhammad Hussain and former minister Syed Bashrat Bukhari — from the party’s basic membership.
The party has also removed Mehboob Iqbal from the key position of general secretary.
The decision to expel Hussain and Bukhari was taken after some reports surfaced suggesting that both the PDP leaders were set to join rival National Conference on Wednesday.
PDP vice-president Abdul Rehman Veeri, according to a local news agency said, “The party has expelled Peer Muhammad Hussain and Syed Basahrat Bukhari from the basic membership of the party for their anti-party activities. The party has also removed Mehboob Iqbal, the party general secretary from the position he was holding.”
Sources said that the three leaders are going to join National Conference in a day or two.
