Police arrest 3 gamblers; 3 drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police have arrested two gamblers and three drug peddlers from different areas of Kashmir valley.
A police spokesman, in a statement, said that Srinagar police in its continuous drive against social crimes, arrested three gamblers and recovered stake money of rupees 7860 from the gambling site.
A police party of Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh headed by SHO raided a gaming site at Sonwar. During the raid, three gamblers were arrested and a stake money of rupees 7,860 was seized from the gambling site.
A case FIR number 95/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up, said the spokesman.
In Anantnag, police arrested a drug peddler and seized huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
At a naka check point at Sangam chowk, a police party while carrying out the searches intercepted one suspected person and from his possession recovered huge quantity of codeine phosphate, said the spokesman.
“The drug peddler has been identified as Amir Ali Chopan son of Ali Mohammad Chopan resident of Rajpora Pulwama,” the spokesman said, adding a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
Police also apprehended two drug peddlers from Pulwama. The arrested persons were identified as Aijaz Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar and Ghulam Mohammad Mir son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, both residents of Achan Pulwama.
5.5 kilograms of compressed cannabis leaves and 05 kilograms of Poppy straw was recovered from their possession, said the spokesman.
