7 cops injured in road accident

DySP airlifted to AIIMS Delhi

Srinagar, Nov 16: A police officer was among seven cops injured in a road accident near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last evening, police said on Friday.

An official said that a vehicle (JK09-7831) driven by SgCt Majid Hussain (597/IRP) turned turtle around 6:45 PM in Keran, leaving seven cops injured.

He identified the injured as DySp Bodh Raj of IR-4th Bn, Sgct Raten Lal (439/IRP-4th), SgCt Majid Hussain (597/IRP-4th), SgCt Operator (Telecom) Irshad Ahmad (2863/PW), Ct Sanjay (406/IRP-4th), Ct. Ramesh 789/IRP-4th and Ct. Khursheed Ahmad (1173/KP).

The officers were on Panchayat election duties. They were immediately shifted to the nearest Army hospital wherefrom the injured DySP along with two other personnel was airlifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar, where he was stabilized, a police spokesman said.

However, on Friday afternoon, the injured DySP Bodh Raj was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi in an air ambulance arranged by the police department. The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, IGP Kashmir S.P. Pani saw him off at Airport, alongwith his family for AIIMS New Delhi, a police spokesman said.
