Forces fire in air in Shopian village, Wathora

Srinagar, Oct 23: Government forces on Tuesday evening fired several shots in air after two motorcycle-borne youth did not stop to their signal at a check-post in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police official said that forces resorted to aerial firing in Pir Pora village of Shopian after two motorcyclists jumped the check-post.

The forces, according to the official, later laid a siege around the area and started a search operation.

Army on Tuesday also resorted to aerial firing after they were pelted with stones in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said an army party was moving through Wathoora village when it was pelted with stones by some youth.

The army-men, they said, fired several shots in air to chase away the protesting youth.
