3 drug-peddlers arrested
Srinagar, Oct 14: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug-peddlers from Hazratbal area of Srinagar and another from Ganderbal district.
According to a police spokesman, Police Station Nigeen had laid a checkpoint (Naka) near NIT Srinagar and two persons were intercepted. During checking, 80 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from their possession.
Spokesman identified the drug-peddlers were as Tariq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, resident of Malabagh, and Rayees Ahmad Hakak alias Bangola, son of Fayaz Ahmad, resident of Gulab Bagh.
Both drug -peddlers were arrested and contraband substance seized, spokesman said, adding a case was registered in Police Station Nigeen under relevant sections of law and investigation taken up.
In Ganderbal too, police arrested a drug-peddler and recovered 60 codeine phosphate bottles from his possession, spokesman informed, and identified the arrested person as Shamsudin Lone alias Saeba, son of Mehrajudin Lone, resident of Duderhama.
