People in large number come up to cast their votes in Uri

60 percent polling recorder till 12 noon

Uri: Defying threats and boycott calls, large number of voters are queuing up outside polling station in frontier Uri town as brisk polling is going on here in the third phase of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls.

“Out of 3552, 2117 votes were polled till 12 A M in which 1096 were male and 1021 females ,” a polling officer said.

Polling began at 6:am for third phase of Muncipal polls in 96 wards in the state.

This is the first municipal elections where Kashmiri migrants are able to exercise their franchise after the ECI allowed them to cast their votes through postal ballots.
