Kashmir Inter-district Women Cricket Championship kick-starts in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, 09 Oct: Kashmir Inter-district women Cricket Championship kick started on Tuesday following a grand opening ceremony at Physical education college sports stadium here.

The inaugural match was played between Women’s college Srinagar and Green valley educational institute. Women’s college won the inaugural match in a loop sided encounter.

12 teams from all ten district of the valley are participating in the championship which includes a college team and a school team.

Earlier, during the inaugural ceremony DC Ganderbal said that girls have tremendous sports talent and there is a dire need to promote and support them.

On the occasion, State coordinater Jammu and Kashmir women’s cricket association Ajaz Ahmad Shah said, “we are on fore front to develop and promote women’s cricket in J&K. The championship gives women players from all over the Valley to a platform to showcase​their talent. Our first championship last year has been as success and this year also we will make this championship a success.”

The championship will continue for three days and the final will be played on Thursday.

The championship is organized by Jammu & Kashmir Women Cricket Association in collaboration with 5 Rashtryia Rifles.
