Police foil teachers’ Raj Bhawan march in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 23: Police on Sunday used force to thwart teachers’ march towards Governor’s official residence at Raj Bhawan here.

Hundreds of teachers had assembled at Partap Park Srinagar under the banner of  JK Teachers Forum and protested against government’s failure to implement 7th Pay Commission recommendation for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and head teachers in schools.

The protesting teachers are also demanding de-linking of their salary from MHRD funds.

As the protesting teachers began to march on MA Road, police deployed there swung into action and dispersed the protesting teachers by using colored water cannons on them.

Dozens of protesting teachers including union leaders were bundled in a police vehicles and lodged at Kothi Bagh police station.
