BANDIPORA: The locality of Nowpora in Bandipora area has become a dumping site for locals as Bandipora Municipal Committee (BMC) fails to keep a regular check on the waste management of the area.

In Ward Number one of Nowpora area huge pile of waste material can be seen which has not only polluted the area but has also led to the increase of dog population in the locality.

“As the dustbin provided by the BMC lies upside down, the locals put their waste material on the road which has made our living difficult because of the stink and dogs because the site along the road has been turning into a dumping yard,” said a local adding that the garbage dump attracts dozens of dogs that makes the public movement difficult.

The dumping site is also surrounded by the two educational institutions thus threatening the health and safety of students, said locals.

“A primary school and a Darul Uloom lies near to this dumping site. The movement of kids has become difficult. Moreover, the stink these waste material produce disturbs the entire locality especially the kids of these institutions,” the local added.

The locals also blame authorities for having no proper waste management policy in their locality. However, when reached out BMC assured of the immediate action of cleaning the site soon.
