Budgam, Aug 27: While chanting pro-freedom and pro-Article 35A slogans, the students here staged protests against hearing of plea challenging Article 35A on Monday.

The students of Boys Higher Secondary and Girls Higher Secondary Budgam took to streets after news of fresh plea in the Supreme Court went viral.

Shopkeepers downed the shutters of their shops and passenger vehicles vanished from the scene when students assembled in the main chowk, amidst sloganeering.

A group of students said that 35A is ‘red line’ for Kashmir and they are ready to die for it. “Article 35A safeguards our existence. We won’t allow its tempering or abrogation.”

Meanwhile, many private schools were closed by concerned school administrations.
