Tral shuts to protest arrests

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district on Friday against the recent arrests by the police.

Reports said that several people, including family members of active militants, were arrested by police in nocturnal raids.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in the town while traffic was off the roads.

Locals said that amid shutdown scores of people took to streets to register their protest against arrest spree.

They were demanding the immediate release of all people who were arrested by police in recent days.
