Student injured in BSF firing succumbs after 15 days battle for life

Police had registered case against BSF 

Baramulla: Fifteen days after 11th class student Ubaib Manzoor who was injured wheb Border Security Force cavalcade opened fire on protesting group of youth including some students at Nadihal Rafibad  in the outskirts of north Kashmir’s Baramulla town on 25 June, the youth succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS on Tuesday.

The slain youth identified as Ubaid Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone of Nadihal Sopore sustained a bullet wound in his right thigh after paramilitary BSF opened fire when its vehicle allegedly came under stone pelting at Nadihal on Baramulla-Kupwara highway.

Eyewitnesses had said that a group of students and other local youth were protesting against the  civilian killing in government forces firing in different parts of Valley.

“The youth including few students  were protesting and had blocked highway in the area.In the meantime, a BSF cavalcade passed through the area and the protesting students hurled stones on it and the BSF troopers fired some shots resulting in injuries to the student,”  the another eyewitness had said.

Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Baramulla, Dr Syed Masood had  said, “The youth suffered firearm injury in the thigh and after initial treatment he has been referred to SKIMS Srinagar for speicalised treatment.”

Baramulla police has registered a case in this regard and investigation is going on”A case under FIR No 103 of 2018 Under Section 307,336,144 RPC has been registered  in police station Baramulla and further investigation into the incident has been launched,” the officer said.

As the news reached Nadihal village, pall of gloom fall on it and large number of people have started assembling in the area to participate in the funeral prayers.
